AP Seminar

Sophomores in the The Center take AP Seminar. This course requires students to engage in discourse from multiple perspectives on diverse and varied topics. In order for students to successfully contribute to discussions, pursue academic research, and write effective arguments, they must first acquire knowledge representative of their interests and the world in which they live. AP Seminar students will participate in various cultural and academic happenings and will have access to scholarly readings as part of their learning experience. Students will:

  • regularly access Elsevier Science Direct or other scholarly databases for academic, peer-reviewed research

  • attend one of three Distinguished Speaker Series forums (donated by SpeakersLA)

  • attend one guest speaker presentation monthly

  • observe the AP Research Festival of Scholars

AP Research

Juniors in The Center have two pathways for AP Research: STEM, and Humanities/Social Science. The transcript does not reflect a difference and students are encouraged to select a path that best suits their interests and passions.

Senior Culminating Experience

All seniors in The Center take AP English Literature where they also complete a portion of the requirements for the Senior Culminating Experience. Students further their research and apply to the prestigious Regeneron Science Talent Search.
